⚠️WHERE IS TWYLA????⚠️

Twyla went to Humane Society of the Dunes on June 17, 2023 along with another dog (Daisy) and three cats (Ms Cali, Cauliflower, and Tootie). They were all “rescued” from Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) and IACS Shelter Rescue Team (formerly called IACS Rescue). Humane Society of the Dunes is in Chesterton, Indiana and is run by Jane Hullsiek

Twyla was “rescue only” at the Indy shelter because she had blood in her urine and a urinary tract infection that she had been struggling with for at least two months. Eventually she was given a “must exit by” date or she would be euthanized because the Indy shelter was unable to get her the diagnostics and treatment she needed. Although Twyla was initially a little timid when meeting new people, she had a fan club of IACS staff and volunteers who loved her and said she was an absolute sweetheart when she knew you.

Jane never posted anything about Twyla from the Humane Society of the Dunes page until 7.5 months after she was rescued from IACS. In February 2024, she posted an “update” with a photo of Twyla stating “Twyla loves her elephant!”. Jane shared two other photos of IACS dogs (Pansy and Eric) as “updates”, also in February 2024, which were also taken in that same room, which indicates that at best it was a foster home, not an update from Twyla’s adopter. Actually, we believe the room those photos were taken in is in Jane’s own home and she took those photos. Many of the photos of dogs she posted had a black slip lead in them, including photos we have confirmed were taken by her at her own house. The photo of Pansy in the photo below, taken in the same room, was sent to an IACS volunteer by Jane the day after Pansy came to her.

The aforementioned facebook post from Humane Society of the Dunes, the post says 'Twyla is loves her elephant!'. Twyla is laying on a distinctive rug seen in many photos, she is looking at the camera, and there is a stuffed elephant on the floor.

It’s time for a REAL update on Twyla. Where is she now? She came with $2300 in pledges from the IACS Rescue page (the highest amount of pledges of any IACS animal Jane took), surely she got the diagnostics and treatment she needed with those donations? Surely she went to foster as she healed, and eventually got adopted?

If you know where Twyla is now, please reach out. We are offering $200* for proof of Twyla’s current whereabouts. We just want to know she’s safe.
