Jace was “rescued” by Humane Society of the Dunes in March 2022. He was originally at IACS Shelter Rescue Team (formerly called IACS Rescue) and Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) before HSotD pulled him. The founder of the rescue is Jane Hullsiek.
Jace needed rescue from the Indy shelter because of his behavior. He was jumpy and mouthy and was deemed not safe for the adoption floor because of his energy level and inappropriate ways of attempting to get attention when staff and volunteers took him out. No aggression was noted, but he needed to go somewhere where he could get exercise and training, which could not happen in the shelter. Even so, he seemed to be a staff and volunteer favorite. As his behavior became increasingly unmanageable due to pent up energy in the kennels, he was given a euthanasia deadline at the end of March 2022, although Humane Society of the Dunes pulled him so he was not ultimately euthanized at IACS.
No updates were ever posted about Jace by Humane Society of the Dunes. He’d be about 7 years old now. Jace was one of 110+ animals taken by the Humane Society of the Dunes which is in Chesterton (northwest Indiana (NWI)) a few hours’ drive from Indianapolis. Very few updates were ever shared about any of the animals they “rescued”, and those that were posted have questionable legitimacy. Humane Society of the Dunes has now deleted their Facebook page.
Jace originally came to IACS after being surrendered by his owner’s parents. Owner had been keeping him chained in a basement. His name was originally Ace but was changed to avoid confusion with another dog at IACS at the time whose name was also Ace. His name on his microchip or paperwork may still be “Ace”. We are offering $100 for proof of Jace’s whereabouts today. If you know where he is, reach out.
