Where is Whiskey the dog?
Whiskey was “rescued” from Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) and IACS Shelter Rescue Team (formerly called IACS Rescue) by Humane Society of the Dunes on October 18, 2022. The director of HSotD is Jane Hullsiek and the rescue is based out of Chesterton in Northwest Indiana (NWI).
He was “rescue only” at the Indy shelter because he had a swollen and injured right leg. He was in pain and walked with a substantial limp. The shelter’s vet examined Whiskey and said that it was either an old injury or cancer and that regardless of the cause it was not likely to ever heal or reach a point of not being painful. During his time at the shelter, Whiskey met two dogs and growled at both of them and snapped at one so he did not seem to enjoy the company of other dogs. Although his IACS Rescue post described him as independent and not caring too much whether he had visitors, an IACS volunteer described Whiskey as the absolute sweetest boy who was gentle taking treats and a wonderful dog.
After Whiskey went to Humane Society of the Dunes, they never posted anything about him on their social media. His IACS freedom ride post stated the rescue had found a foster home for him. One commenter asked IACS Rescue to check up on Whiskey after he went to Humane Society of The Dunes. IACS responded, “You are welcome to email the rescue and inquire.”
Where is Whiskey now? He was estimated as 11 years old in fall 2022 when he went to the rescue, so he’d be around 13-14 now. It is possible he has passed away since then. We’d like to talk to the person who fostered him, or if he had an adopter, we would like to speak to them too. We are offering $200* for your time and proof of where Whiskey is now.
