Where is Jasper? We are offering $200 for answers 💔
Jasper’s last confirmed whereabouts are Humane Society of the Dunes in Chesterton in Northwest Indiana (NWI) on August 26, 2023. That is the day he left the Indianapolis Animal Care Services shelter (IACS). The founder of Humane Society of the Dunes, Jane Hullsiek, never posted anything about Jasper from the rescue’s Facebook page. It’s time to find out what happened to him.
Jasper was sent to Humane Society of the Dunes by IACS Shelter Rescue Team without him ever being publicly posted on their page. From public records requests, we know that Jasper arrived at IACS on ~August 16, 2023 with injuries to his front legs. His notes state his left front leg was non-weight-bearing and had swelling and necrotic tissue. The leg was amputated by the Indy shelter vet. Medical notes stated he had large lacerations and possible fractures in his right front limb as well, plus severe dental disease. He also had FIV.
Jasper’s notes stated he would need the staples taken out from his amputation closure after 14 days. He went to Humane Society of the Dunes prior to two weeks being up so hopefully that occurred and hopefully he got the dental he needed and care for his injured right leg also. We have heard from people who had previous dealings with Jane that she had some very outdated views on cats with FIV (which she called “kitty aids”) and we are concerned that Jasper may not have had a good outcome with Humane Society of the Dunes because of the stigma against FIV.
Jasper would be about 13 years old now, and he’s missing his front left leg. Do you know anyone who fostered or adopted this cat? If so, please reach out to us. There is $200* available for proof of Jasper’s whereabouts. Please share for Jasper 🙏
