‼️Where is Elsie??‼️
$250 for proof of Elsie the cat’s whereabouts. Have you seen her? If you fostered or adopted her, or if you know something, please reach out. Please share this post!
Elsie was “rescued” by Humane Society of the Dunes on August 26, 2023. She was originally at Indianapolis Animal Care Services before HSotD pulled her. The founder of the rescue is Jane Hullsiek and the rescue is based out of Chesterton in Northwest Indiana (NWI).
Although “rescue only” animals are normally posted by the IACS Shelter Rescue Team page (formerly called IACS Rescue), there was no post made by them about Elsie when she was at the shelter. Oftentimes the rescue coordinator at IACS would reach out to rescues privately without posting the animals publicly, so this was not an uncommon occurrence.
What we know about Elsie from public records requests is heartbreaking. She arrived at IACS as a sickly stray in 2017. After being nursed back to health, she was adopted. Six years later, Elsie was picked up as a stray at a vacant house, emaciated and sickly again, and 14+ years old 💔 Her bloodwork showed some abnormalities and that is likely why she was “rescue only”.
The IACS Rescue page posted a “freedom ride” photo featuring Elsie when she left the shelter, but it didn’t include her name. Jane never posted anything about Elsie after she got her. What happened to Elsie? Did Jane get her the care she needed? After being let down twice in Indianapolis, did she finally get her happy ending with Humane Society of the Dunes?
Elsie was pulled on the same day as two other cats with medical needs (Jasper and Fuzzy) and two dogs (Patchez Rose who had medical needs, Precious who was rescue only for needing socialization). Nothing was ever posted about these five animals by Jane after she took them from IACS. No fundraisers or updates from their fosters or adopters or health updates, nothing.
Where is Elsie today? There is $250* available to anyone who knows the answer to that question and is willing to provide some proof.
It’s never too late to tell the truth. Elsie would be about 15-16 now and it’s possible she could have passed away since going to rescue. Regardless, we feel that there is someone out there who knows her outcome besides Jane Hullsiek. It’s time to find out where Elsie is.
