Remy was “rescued” by Humane Society of the Dunes from Northwest Indiana (NWI) in February 2020. He was originally at IACS Shelter Rescue Team (formerly called IACS Rescue) and Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) before HSotD pulled him. The founder of the rescue is Jane Hullsiek. It was not stated in his IACS Rescue post why Remy needed rescue, but our guess is that because he was a rare breed (listed as a Komondor) who would require specialized grooming, he would hypothetically do better with a rescue than an adopter. He had come to the shelter with a very matted coat that was shaved off by shelter staff.
Soon after he was pulled, Humane Society of the Dunes posted on their (now deleted) Facebook page some photos of Remy in the lobby at the vet.
They also had a comment exchange with someone on the IACS Rescue page who owned a Komondor and was potentially interested in Remy. On that post and his other IACS Rescue post, they stated he would be indoor and “the only livestock he would be guarding is his owner”.
On Humane Society of the Dunes’ website, there is a photo of Remy in Jane’s home on one of her famous spotted rugs. His hair was still very short so it was likely soon after he was “rescued”. No updates about Remy were ever posted by Humane Society of the Dunes after the initial vet visit post.
We are offering $100 for proof of Remy’s current whereabouts. If you know where he is, reach out. Remy would be about 7 years old today.
