Ned was “rescued” by Humane Society of the Dunes in early 2020. He was originally at IACS Shelter Rescue Team 9 (formerly called IACS Rescue) and Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) before HSotD pulled him. The founder of the rescue is Jane Hullsiek and the rescue is based out of Chesterton in Northwest Indiana (NWI).

Ned was “rescue only” at the Indy shelter because he had hip displasia on his right side and would need lifelong pain management and possibly additional care as he aged, so the shelter chose to send him to a rescue with the hope that a rescue could vet adopters better than the shelter could, and find him a good home. Ned was described as goofy and hilarious but also had some training. He knew sit, shake, and down, and did great during his dog test at IACS.

Humane Society of the Dunes never posted any updates about Ned after they took him. We have not been able to reach any adopters or fosters from this organization and since our page was created, the director deleted the Humane Society of the Dunes Facebook page and her personal Facebook page (she had two, her old, inactive profile is still up but not the newer one).

In January 2024, a group of donors wrote a letter to the rescue’s director asking for updates on ~50 IACS animals for whom they’d donated to Humane Society of the Dunes. Jane responded that she’d send their letter to her lawyer, then didn’t respond further.

We are offering $100 for proof of Ned’s whereabouts today. He’d be about 8 years old now. Please share our posts and engage with them. We are trying to find answers but we can’t do it without your help.
