Today’s featured animal was near and dear to the hearts of the volunteers at Indianapolis Animal Care Services and IACS Rescue before he was rescued by Humane Society of the Dunes on New Years Eve, 2022. He was a staff and volunteer favorite. Many were overjoyed to hear that not only did he go to rescue so he could get the medical care he needed on the mass on his front leg, he was also adopted by the director of Humane Society of the Dunes, Jane Hullsiek.

She sent an update to staff and volunteers at IACS that he had surgery on the mass and he was getting along with her three dogs plus her cats, in early January 2023. When IACS went to inspect her facility in February 2023 after concerns were brought up, although Jane knew she was being inspected by IACS, Nixon was not on site at the time. She claimed he was having a spa day. The dogs onsite that day included Misty from IACS who Jane adopted and Jane’s pet bulldog named Jack Dozer.

In December 2023, an IACS volunteer reached out to Humane Society of the Dunes by private message to ask for an update on Nixon. At that time, she stated he had been rehomed because of chasing the cats and an incident between Nixon and another of her dogs. She shared a screenshot of a photo from her camera roll from January 2023.

After sending the camera roll screenshot, she cropped the photo and sent it again.

The volunteer found it strange that in December 2023, the photo Jane chose to share of Nixon was from January 2023, within days of him arriving at Jane’s. The other photos visible in the camera roll screenshot provided by Jane show Nixon’s “freedom ride” photos from IACS, and a photo of him sitting on a spotted rug in Jane’s home with the bulldog named Jack.

After Jane claimed in December 2023 that Nixon had been rehomed, she posted an “update” on him in February of 2024. She called Nixon, a male dog, a “her” and stated that Nixon loves her best friend Jack. This was the same photo with a distinct rug in her home featuring Jane’s own dog, the bulldog Jack Dozer. This photo is from January 2023 as shown in a screenshot of Jane’s own camera roll. Again, this was after Jane already had claimed to rehome Nixon after a squabble with one of her dogs. This was one of a number of unusual “updates” posted by her on the Humane Society of the Dunes page that day.

We offer a $100 gift to anyone who has proof of Nixon’s current whereabouts. Please share this post with your friends in Northwest Indiana (NWI). Nixon was very special to a lot of people, who really want to know how he’s doing today. Every single animal on this page deserved to go to a loving and safe home. We are waiting for proof of that.
