Littles was “rescued” by Humane Society of the Dunes from Northwest Indiana (NWI) in September 2023. She was originally at IACS Shelter Rescue Team (formerly called IACS Rescue) and Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) before HSotD pulled her. The founder of the rescue is Jane Hullsiek. Littles needed rescue from the shelter because she had a recently repaired rectal prolapse and animals often re-prolapse in a shelter environment.

In February of 2024, the Humane Society of the Dunes Facebook page (this page is not publicly visible anymore, either deleted or hidden) posted a flurry of unusual “updates” about several animals, most of which came from IACS originally. One of those posts was about Littles. It stated “Littles isn’t do little anymore! 🐾” (sic). In it, there was a photo of a tabby cat sitting on a cat tree with wooden floor trim in the background.

What appears to be this same cat tree appears on the Humane Society of the Dunes website with other cats on it, and from the many photos shared on the website and the former FB page, it seems apparent that Jane Hullsiek’s house has a lot of wooden accents and trims. We posit that the photo she claims to be “Littles” was taken in her own home, not a foster or adopter’s.

The day after she posted that “update” on Littles, it appears she tried to fix the spelling mistake (it then read, “Littles isn’t to little anymore! 🐾” (sic again). Then went back in and deleted the photo although the text remained. This was visible in the edit history of the post.

Here’s where things get strange(r). The cat she posted this update photo of was not Littles. There are several different “tabby cat” coat patterns. Littles was a “mackerel” tabby. The cat she posted and claimed was Littles is a “classic” tabby. Surely she knew that the cat she posted, which is seemingly inside her house, was not Littles, who she had “rescued” about five months previous?

In May 2022, long before Littles ever came to her rescue, Humane Society of the Dunes posted a photo of two kittens “on the adoption list”. This photo was without a doubt taken inside her house, given many pictures exist of her own pet dogs on the same rug in the photo. Jane occasionally keeps a rescue animal for her own pet, as demonstrated by her still having Misty from IACS a couple years after taking her from the shelter. We don’t know this for sure, but the cat she posted as “Littles” looks very similar to the kitten from the 2022 post. Without seeing its coat better, we can’t say. Did she keep that kitten and then claim it was a different cat in an update?

So where is the real Littles today? We are offering $100 for proof of her current whereabouts. If you know where she is, reach out.
