Bucky was “rescued” by Humane Society of the Dunes in June 2022. He was originally at IACS Rescue and Indianapolis Animal Care Services before HSotD pulled him. The founder of the rescue is Jane Hullsiek. Bucky needed rescue from the shelter because he had a heart murmur and needed a dental surgery.

After Bucky went to Humane Society of the Dunes, IACS Rescue posted his freedom ride photo. One commenter on the post asked IACS where all the animals that go to Humane Society of the Dunes end up.

In February 2024, after very infrequently posting anything from their social media for the last several years, Humane Society of the Dunes went on a social media blitz, providing a number of unusual “updates” on mostly IACS animals they had pulled. They posted, “I am told Buckey (sic) eats and sleeps and eats and sleeps!”. Comments on Bucky’s “update” post are restricted by the Humane Society of the Dunes Facebook account.

If you know where Bucky is now, we are offering a $100 gift for proof of his current whereabouts. Humane Society of the Dunes from Northwest Indiana (NWI) claims to have an adoption coordinator, a foster coordinator named Brenda, three people who run their Facebook page, 69 foster homes, and have adopted out over 1000 animals over the years. They pulled more than 110 cats and dogs from Indianapolis Animal Care Services. If you adopted from or fostered for Humane Society of the Dunes, please reach out.
